circa 1997-1998

lacquered metal, aluminum, insulated copper cable, steel, mirrored glass and plastic

228,5 x 262 x 178 cm; 89 15/16 x 103 1/8 x 70 1/16 in.

Side arm: 47 cm; 18 1/2 in.

Overall good condition.

The light installation connects to the ceiling and the wall with a distancing arm. It comprises 32 branches, each including a red and a black insulated copper cable connected by a plastic heart and a metal wire holding a heart shaped mirror which can be positioned to reflect the light; these are displayed at about 260 degrees along the stem. One transformer at the top and and a label to the canopy: Burklin Die genze Eletronik. The light presents with dirt, light dotty traces of white paint and black dotty dirt on several hearts and at the top of the stem. The tip of few branches (about eight) show signs of repair or is damaged, small cuts (longest 9 cm), traces of burn and wrinkle on some hearts (about ten). The head of the side arm connecting the light to the wall is slightly bent. All consistent with normal use and age, not visually distracting.

Sotheby's does not guarantee electrical components and suggests having all wiring inspected by a licensed electrician.
