Arredamenti Borsani Varedo edition, Varedo, Italy
245 x 250 x 65 cm; 96 7/16 x 98 7/16 x 25 9/16 in.
The structure is in good overall condition.
The bar cabinet is a refined artisan furniture comprising different materials and finishes. Several signs of wear, scratches, dents and oxidations scattered and spread throughout the structure. The two rear golden doors present with two restorations near the door locks (12 cm and 7 cm), small gold and decoration paint lacks, light scratches and sign of wear. The door shelves and rear lower part are covered with small glass tiles, a few of them not coeval, where the gold paint under the glass blackened in several points creating a decorative ageing effect. The back of the doors are upholstered in leatherette with some signs of wear, traces of glue and humidity stains, and are framed in mahogany with a wood loss at the bottom (7 cm) and some corner detachments. The mahogany frame of the panel closing the rear cabinet top presents with breakages and restorations particularly on two corners, not visible when the panel is inserted. The brass bar top has several light scratches and oxidations with black spots; upper part in fabric with several scattered stains and two neon that were replaced. The white painted sides of the front open top presents with dirt, small paint lacks and a small hole at the center bottom for electrical connection. The front sliding door presents with some signs of wear and oxidations on the metal decorations with hardstone inserts, correct vertical sliding of the door through lateral lead counterweights. The lock systems of the front and back doors need review. The two lower shaped doors are in solid mahogany with brass inserts which have oxidized as well as the brass stripes on the bottom front, with signs of wear and abrasions inside particularly where the doors open and close. The cabinet was designed to be built-in, so about half of each side is open with visible counterweights. The cabinet can be dismantled in several parts and it must be adjusted to the ground on which it rests for its proper functioning.
Sotheby's does not guarantee electrical components and suggests having all wiring inspected by a licensed electrician.
