Acquired directly from the artist by the present owner

Heralded as a pioneer of post-painterly abstraction and later named as the father of minimalist art, Frank Stella has been producing dynamic, experimental, and influential work for over six decades. His aesthetic has greatly evolved over the course of his prolific career; Delma Tepe from 2002 elegantly encapsulates the modes and themes that have preoccupied him in recent years. Titled after the archaeological site of Neolithic civilization, the work is inspired by the artefacts found there, and Stella’s technique and materials recall the excavation process.
