This work was realised after a residency at Cité des Arts in 2003 in Paris. After numerous visits to the catacombes of Paris, Wiener meticulously photographed several perspectives of the skulls and bones and created over 25 unique works based on his findings, patterns, graphic qualities and the notion of accumulation. Alan Wiener was one of many fortunate artists at Feature Inc, NY, helmed by legendary gallerist HUDSON which operated throughout the 1980s-2000s until the dealer’s death in 2014. Feature Inc. presented one of Charles Ray’s first exhibitions.
