A pair of George II mahogany hall chairs, circa 1730, the design almost certainly by William Kent, the carving attributed to James Richards with James Moore the Younger 


with acanthus-carved cresting rails and lyre-shaped splat between faceted uprights with further acanthus-carved details, each boarded seat above fluted friezes and outswept rear legs

Commissioned by Sir John Dutton, 2nd Bt. (1684–1743) for Sherborne House, Gloucestershire and probably two of the '9 Carved Mahogany Chairs for my Hall'.
