A George II Walnut Double-Chair-Back Settee, Attributed to Giles Grendey, Second Quarter 18th Century

Each backrest with slightly arched and molded top rail above a dished vase-shaped splat veneered in well-figured timber, the dished arms with eagle's-head terminals on downswept supports, and the drop-in seat raised on three front cabriole legs carved at the knees with shells and ending in claw-and-ball feet; the back rail stamped WH twice, possibly William House, a journeyman in Grendey's workshop.
