A carved and enamelled turquoise-ground 'landscape' brushpot, School of Chen Guozhi, Qing dynasty, Daoguang period 清道光 松綠地彩釉雕瓷山水圖筆筒 《山高水長》款

For brushpots inscribed with a shangao shuichang seal mark, see two yellow-glazed 'landscape' examples, signed Xianyuan Chen Guozhi zuo ('made by Chen Guozhi of Xianyuan') and Puquan zhenwan ('rare curios of Puquan'), one in the Jiansong Ge collection, the other sold at Sotheby's London, 5th December 1995, lot 331.

Compare also a white-biscuit 'herdboy' brushpot in the collection of Humphrey Hui, signed Pingzhai Chen Guozhi and with a shangao shuichang seal mark, exhibited in Elegance in Relief: Carved Porcelain from Jingdezhen of the 19th to Early 20th Centuries, Chinese University of Hong Kong Art Museum, Hong Kong, 2006, cat. no. 15.
