A greyish celadon jade ‘rabbit’ pendant, Western Zhou dynasty 西周 灰青玉兔珮飾

Compare a similar example from the collection of Sir Joseph Edward Hotung, published in Chinese Jade Carving, Hong Kong, 1983, pl. 63; and further examples, one from the Chang Wei-Hwa Collection, sold in Christie’s Hong Kong, 30th November 2020, lot 2732, and another from the Hei-Chi Collection sold in these rooms, 22th April 2021, lot 43.

 

玉兔造型簡練，大耳、圓目、短吻，小口上掦，腿足帶勁，頭首前傾，蠢蠢欲動，足見古人巧思。歷經數千歲月，更添雅趣，讓人愛不釋手。

商周時期玉兔於何鴻卿爵士珍藏中有例，載於《中國玉雕》，香港，1983年，圖版63。尚有兩件類例，一件曾為張偉華收藏，售於香港佳士得2020年11月30日，編號2732，另一件曾為熙墀收藏，2021年4月22日在香港蘇富比易手，編號43。
