FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, 8vo, 21 charts, 8 photographic plates, inscription from Mary Proctor to Mrs Gurney Fox, Jan 22 1930, author's corrections in pencil throughout, original cloth gilt binding, in modern maroon clamshell box, light foxing to title page, bumped at corners, some light soiling to rear cover 


The first edition of this work on star gazing by the astronomer Mary Proctor, daughter of the renowned English astronomer Richard Anthony Proctor. This copy contains pencil corrections by the author.


PROVENANCE

Inscription from Mary Proctor to Mrs Gurney Fox, dated 22 January 1930, "For Mrs. Gurney Fox, in appreciation of a very pleasant evening, from the author Mary Proctor".
