Bergeret-Gourbin and Imhoff, Paul Helleu 1859-1927, Honfleur, Musée Eugène Boudin, Alençon, 1993, p. 53, cat. 82
Helleu made two pastel portraits of a woman identified as Lucette, possibly the work's first owner, Luce Poisson, here in profile wearing a gray cloche. The present work was executed in 1913.
