A garniture of five bronze altar vases

Ming dynasty, 16th-17th century


comprising a square tripod incense burner with a lion finial, flanked by two baluster vases with animal head loop handles supporting loose rings, supported on a flared base and two other elongated baluster vases with animal handles and a large everted foliate rim, one of the baluster vase inscribed Hou Guan Yan

The baluster vases : H. 27.5 cm, 10⅞ in. and 28.5 cm, 11¼ in.

The incense burner : W. 30.5 cm, 12 in.
