Paris, Galerie Georges Petit, Albert LebourgTableaux, aquarelles et dessins, 1918, no. 71 (titled Bords d'une rivière normande)

This painting is the archetype of Lebourg's landscape paintings appreciated by amateurs. A remarkable layout of a lively Normandy landscape with a typical sky. The verdant nature shows the artist's love for his native Normandy, birthplace of Impressionism.

It is therefore not surprising that this painting was included in the important Albert Lebourg exhibition held from January 12 to 31 at the Galeries George Petit. Gustave Geoffroy wrote the preface of the catalog of this exhibition presenting 269 paintings, including number 71; Bords d'une rivière normande. He states: ''It is a dazzling, from the threshold of this room where a part of Lebourg's work has been gathered. It is a dazzle, but without fracas of color and light, without fireworks, without violent attractions.''
