This finely modelled statue of Buddha retains its original red painted copper sealing plate. Compare the style of the circular double lotus pedestal with two gilt bronzes from a set of mahasiddha, one in the Linden-Museum, Stuttgart, see Ulrich von Schroeder, Indo-Tibetan Bronzes, Hong Kong, 1981, p. 449, pl. 122D, and another in a private collection, see Hugo Kreijger, Godenbeelden uit Tibet, exh. cat., Den Haag, 1989, p. 102.
