A fine and rare gilt-bronze engraved wine cup
of small size, the bowl with horizontal groove just below the slightly everted lip, finely engraved in three zones with birds in flight and perched amidst scrolling, flowering plants, above a short 'canopy' engraved with dentate ornament, supported on a spherical-knopped stem and conical foot, the latter engraved with floral meander on a granulated ground matching the body

The cup is generally in good condition. There is a casting line visible on the outside and to the interior of the cup which is original to the piece and typical of its construction. There is a few nicks to the mouthrim and some surface wear including rubbing to the gilding to both the rim and footrim as well as to the interior.
