If a traditional jeweler was making a 22k gold Form 1 necklace, they would see the need to add a stone. Kapoor’s careful mathematical design, however, allows the wearer to have a relationship with the work of art as well as use the object as adornment. His monochromatic, deceptively simple works that challenge ideas of rationality and perception through the interplay of curvilinear forms, reflective surfaces, and size are exemplified in this small piece that is more than it appears.
