Description

Constantinus Lascaris

De octo partibus orationis liber [and other similar works]. Venice: Aldus Manutius, October 1512

4to (217 x 150mm.), text in Greek and Latin, Hebrew alphabet at end, with blank leaves f10 and ρ4, manuscript headlines, contemporary German pigskin over wooden boards, occasional light worming (particularly at end)

One of several Greek grammars printed by Aldus; Lascaris's epitomised text was first printed in 1480 in Milan and this is the third Aldine edition (following editions in 1495 and [1502-3]). Aldus, however, printed the full text of Lascaris for his [1502-3] edition and added an appendix containing supporting texts on dialects which he also added to other works, including his own Latin grammar (first printed in 1501).
