FIRST EDITION of Castillo's manual on duelling, with the text in both Latin and in Spanish translation. Castillo, who had studied law in Bologna and lived in Turin, was greatly influenced by the writings of Paride del Pozzo, a fellow jurist, who wrote the first systematic treatise on duelling [Naples, c.1477-1478] (see lot 85).
