4to (208 x 145mm.), 232 leaves, *4 A10 a–z aa–cc8 dd10, double column, 48 lines plus headline, gothic type, woodcut Giunta device on title-page, woodcut illustration of St Bernard surrounded by monks beneath a Crucifix on title, woodcut initials and illustrations, A1 with a woodcut border and the heading printed in red, woodcut Emerich device below colophon, a few manuscript annotations (aa3-4 heavily annotated), modern smooth calf over wooden boards, tooled in period style, first few leaves slightly damp-stained


The border on A1 was previously used in Catherine of Siena's Libro della divina dottrina of 1494 (see lot 71), also printed for Lucantonio Giunta.
