standing next to the leg of a large fragmentary figure to his right, and wearing a cloak enveloping his right arm, his left hand on his hip, his face with fierce strongly carved features; no restorations.

Stanley Nager, New York, (Sotheby's, New York, June 23rd, 1989, no. 465, illus.)
acquired by the present owner at the above sale
Another Roman copy of this type of Priapos was sold at Bonhams, London, November 30th, 2016, no. 74. It is unclear which subject the large fragmentary figure represented. For a diminutive figure standing next to the leg of a much larger figure cf. a fragment from Gortyn showing Attis standing next to the leg of a cuirassed statue: M. Lagogianni-Georgakarakos, Die römischen Porträts Kretas, CSIR Greece, vol. VI.1, 2002, p. 88f., no. 68, pl. 71.
