Neolithic tripod ewers from various cultures differ slightly in form but all share the same skillfully designed functionality. The current ewer, at first glance, is perhaps striking for its well-proportioned and elegant form, but the assemblage demonstrates its superb functionality.

Of symmetrical form, the ewer appears to have been assembled from seven carefully formed parts which fit almost seamlessly together. The splayed tripod legs are especially noteworthy as not only do they strengthen the stability of the vessel – more so than most four-legged vessels, the design was likely to enable the vessel to be pushed into the fire bed to raise the heat, and lifted to lower it.
