Apart from the raised bosses on the shoulder of the cooking vessel, every aspect of the stove and vessel is carefully designed to contribute to the utilitarian purposes of the set, from the tripod design that allows the stove to stand sturdily to the everted rim of the cooking vessel that provide a place for one to lift the pot out of the stove.

As is the case with most related extant examples, there is no evidence of fire in the fuel chambers or under the base, which suggests that they may have been reserved for ceremonial or burial purposes.
