Natural earth pigments on eucalyptus bark

Bears artist's name and date on reverse.

26 ¾ in by 16 ¼ in (68 cm by 41.4 cm)

The painting appears in good overall condition with no visible repairs or restoration. There are small areas of pigment loss, most prominent in parts of the white cross-hatched surface, visible in the catalogue photographs. The remaining pigments appear stable; there are some fine hairline cracks in the bark in areas, although none of any concern. The reverse of the bark has four ply blocks attached to it with silicone for suspension. The painting is inscribed on the reverse: Yrrkala Arnhem Land, with the artist's name and dated May 1967.
