The current bronze toad closely relates to a bronze waterdropper in the shape of an auspicious animal, attributed to the Song -Yuan dynasty by the National Palace Museum, Taiwan, illustrated in Dynastic Renaissance Art and culture of the Southern Song: Antiquities, National Palace Museum, Taipei, 2010, cat. III-91.
