gelatin silver print, mounted, signed in ink on the mount, the photographer's Carmel studio stamps (BMFA 5 and 6), titled in ink, and a Michael and Jeanne Adams collection stamp on the reverse, framed, circa 1936, probably printed between 1962 and 1963; accompanied by a certificate of provenance, signed by Michael and Jeanne Adams (2)

frame: 19¾ by 16¾ in. (50.2 by 42.5 cm.)

Please note the colors and shades in the online catalogue illustration may vary depending on screen settings.

This photograph is in generally excellent condition. The following are visible in raking light: a few scattered, soft linear impressions; and a deposit of original retouching in the upper left corner.

An overmat is affixed to the mount. There are three adhesive remnants near the upper and lower edges of the overmat.

The reverse of the mount is faintly soiled. There are some brown linear stains near the lower edge. '63' is written in ink and 'AA/1669' is written in pencil, both in unidentified hands.

Karen Haas and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. Our dating of this print is based upon the authors' assessment of the use dates of stamps 5 and 6: about 1962 to 1963.
