Description

Château d'Yquem 2001

Sauternes, 1er Grand Cru Classé

Good level, label very slightly soiled and very slightly scuffed, label very slightly damp wrinkled

Pierre Lurton did the blending for this vintage - and what a beginning. It is just so lemony on the nose, an amazing explosion of lemon curd aromas and flavours. Extraordinary creamy brilliance - like a diamond. Unbelievably pure and 'magnetic'. Stunningly fresh and immediate. Seamless silky opulence with perfect acidity and balance. Yes, I admit the obvious - I simply adore this.

Serena Sutcliffe, MW
