This fragment originates from a sarcophagus depicting either an actual boar hunt (see B. Andreae, Die römischen Jagdsarkophage (Die antiken Sarkophagenreliefs, vol. 1,2), Berlin, 1980, pls. 86ff. and 126-127), or Meleager's hunt of the Calydonian Boar (C. Robert, Einzelmythen: Hippolytos-Meleager (Die antiken Sarkophagenreliefs, vol. 3,2), Berlin, 1904, pls. 70-98).
