Released and tasted in 2014, this magical south-east facing walled vineyard has an incredible hedgerows and honeysuckle nose. This is a triumph of plot, whereas Krug is usually a triumph of plots. The freshness and purity of the Chardonnay ride over the heat and dryness of the vintage - brilliant work by Krug. In the mouth, there is a divine, keen centre to it, flinty, mineral and full of its ‘terroir’. The texture is creamy, silky and filigree, gliding over the palate. This is aperitif Champagne par excellence. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
