Pair of Egrets

signed JESSIE ARMS BOTKE (lower right)

oil and gold leaf on canvas laid down on Masonite

Masonite: 40 ¼ by 32 ⅜ inches (102.2 by 82.2 cm)

framed: 46 ½ by 38 ½ inches (118.1 by 97.8 cm)

The surface of the work is dirty. There is some fine surface cracking scattered throughout, most noticeably in the thicker areas of white pigment in the egrets. There appear to be additional scattered spots of surface cracking and paint separation in the blue pigments of the background. Under UV: although some pigments read strongly, they appear to the artist's original.
