At the Base of the Cliff

signed Waugh (lower right)

oil on canvas

canvas: 40 ¼ by 50 inches (102.2 by 127 cm)

framed: 48 by 58 inches (121.9 by 147.3 cm)

Painted in 1908.

The work is unlined and appears to retain its original stretchers. There are frame abrasions along the extreme outer edges and the surface of the work appears to be slightly dirty. There appear to be some scattered spots of surface cracking in the thicker areas of pigment. Under UV: although some pigments read strongly, they appear to be the artist's original.
