The present work depicts The David Mathew House, also known as The State Line House, located along Route 67 on the state line between Shaftsbury, Vermont, and Hoosick Falls, New York, where Grandma Moses lived. The present work was owned by the famed actress Helen Hays until 1963 and has remained in the same family collection since.
