A small Kinrande ewer and cover
Ming dynasty, 16th century
the flattened pear-shaped body rising from a short spreading foot to a tall trumpet neck with waisted rim, set to one side with an elegant S-shaped spout supported to the body by a strut and to the other with a tall strap handle, decorated in iron-red and gilt to each side with a large peach shaped panel reserved on a diaper ground, the foot and neck with green and red foliate and stiff leaf bands, the domed cover similarly decorated and surmounted by a recumbent beast knop
