A rare blue and white 'elephant' kendi
Ming Dynasty, Wanli Period
modelled with its head thrust into the air, the tusks forming a double-spout, a tall cylindrical vase on its back forming the handle, its tasselled saddle cloth painted to both sides in rich cobalt-blue tones
Height 16.8 cm, 6⅝ in.
There is a circa 1.5cm., wide crescent-shaped section of repair to a break at the rim and light glaze scratches.
