the rectangular chest with blind drawers to the front face, inlaid with rectangular panels carved with crane, lotus, phoenix and dragons, the sides with birds amidst prunus, the reverse with a large panel depicting a monkey watching a pair of deer in a landscape, the top with a key-fret panel enclosing a large kylin amidst fire scrolls and Buddhist emblems, the separate stand with a pierced ruyi apron supported on cabriole legs 

Width of chest 23.5 cm, 9¼ in.

The cover has three very small areas of cracking and loss to the inlay and a possible replacement to a 1x1.5 rectangular section of the border to the rear of the hinged cover. One leg of the stand has been re-attached with associated minor loss and there is partial loss to one foot.
