A blue and white 'qilin' jar
painted with shaped panels of qilin and other auspicious beasts over breaking waves, reserved on a diaper ground, with a band of ruyi collar at the shoulder and upright petal lappets above the foot
Height 27.5 cm, 10¾ in.
The jar has two hairline cracks extending from the rim to the luting line, a glaze line running around the luting line, a 1cm., hairline rim crack, a 5mm., shallow flake to one corner of the rim, and glaze scratches in particular around the shoulder.
