This collection features the years up to and including World War I, when Zanzibar was a British protectorate, namely the years 1912, 1913, 1918 and 1920, and containing gazettes, supplements, and indexes. The gazettes were first published in 1892, and taken over from the British by the Zanzibar Government in 1894. They are important sources for the notification of officer appointments, and from 1913 onwards legal records were added in a more formal format, including probate court verdicts and license applications.
