125 photographs, mostly albumen prints, some glossy collodion, on 91 mounts, comprising 57 mounted individually (average 195 x 245mm., or the reverse), and 68 mounted in pairs (average 125 x 200mm., or the reverse), on card mounts (328 x 460mm.), all captioned by hand in German in ink on the reverse, housed in a pair of contemporary fitted buckram boxes with red labels on the spines titled respectively: 'Nord-Amerika: Alaska, Californien, Salt Lake' and 'Nord-Amerika: Yellowstone, Colorado, Chicago, Niagra, New York, Washington, Philadelphia', some fading (especially to the 7 photographs by C.D. Arnold), spotting and stains, boxes stained and slightly worn

A good collection of photographs including topographical views of Salt Lake City, California (including San Francisco and Yosemite), Alaska, Colorado, Chicago, Niagara Falls, New York, Washington, Philadelphia and portraits of native Americans. The collection includes photographs by George Fiske (18), Taber of San Francisco (30), C.R. Savage of Salt Lake City (24), C.D. Arnold (3), W.H. Jackson & Co. of Denver (3), and Hook (7).
