Brassey dedicated this book to "Our friends in America, in grateful remembrance of their hospitality during our visit there" and adds "The photography being my own handiwork, will, I trust, add an additional interest to them. A.B." The photographs include portraits of friends and family and fellow passengers, together with views or people in Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, Niagara, Pictou, Halifax, Boston, New York and Washington.
