Etruscan Bronze Figure of a Goddess or Votary holding a Serpent

circa 3rd Century B.C.


standing with the weight on her left leg, holding a separately-cast writhing serpent in her left hand and grasping the folds of her garment with her right hand, and wearing shoes, tunic, long enveloping mantle drawn up as veil over her head, necklace with three triangular pendants, and crescentic diadem.

Height 21.5 cm., 8 ½ in.
