A nimai-do gusoku [armour]

Momoyama - Edo period, late 16th - early 17th century


the momonari kabuto [peach shaped helmet] chased and engraved with auspicious characters, silver rivets in the form of blossoms, the flat mabisashi [peak] with floral scrolls in European manner, gilt fukurin, six tier black lacquer shikoro [neck guard] with kebiki odoshi [close-lacing] in a dark blue braid, the maedate [forecrest] of an ichimonji mitsuboshi mon [three stars under one crest], the russet iron mempo with open mouth and broad horse bristle moustache, gilded teeth, four-tier yodaregake [throat protector], the iron do [cuirass] applied with gilt leather embossed with scrolling vines in European manner, black lacquer fukurin and blue braid to the lower section consistent with all parts, the reverse constructed in horizontal plates with spaced lacing, six tier sode [shoulder guards], chain mail sote [sleeves], seven tassets of five-tiered kusazuri [skirt], with shino suneate [shin guards], with an armour storage box and modern armour stand
