Color lithograph poster (26 x 18 1/2 in.; 662 x 419 mm). Some creases, light surface abrasions, and soiling, one tiny surface loss at lower right margin. Matted, framed, and glazed with Plexiglas.


Unlike many of his contemporaries, Thurston did not actually use a skull during his spirit seances, but the prop was an effective addition to this poster. Magic, p. 267, reproduces the more common companion Strobridge poster for Thurston's spirit illusion, which uses the same text and most of the same motifs as the present version, but has Thurston, rather than his devilish cohort, holding the skull.
