David Triumphant Over Goliath

terracotta

height 18 ¾ in.; 47.6 cm.

Surface abrasions, chips and losses. There are restorations throughout due to breaks. Some hairline cracks are visible on base (and seem to be stable). Sword in his proper right hand and upraised arm have been restored. A layer of terracotta-colored pigment has been applied to the surface. A piece of wood has been placed in the underside for reinforcement. Beautiful modeling.
