Her body is wrapped in a long, antique tunic revealing her chest, Ceres, allegory of Summer, is designated by the cornucopia in her arm, from which emerges a sheaf of wheat.

The elaborate modeling of her drapery and her swaying posture are characteristics of the Roman Baroque. This terra cotta was certainly part of a series of figures illustrating the Four Seasons.

Vêtue d’une longue tunique à l’antique enveloppant son corps et laissant apparaître sa poitrine, Cérès, l’allégorie de l’Eté, est désignée par la corne d’abondance dans ses bras, d’où sort une gerbe de blé.

Le modelé élaboré de sa draperie et sa posture déhanchée inscrit cette figure dans le Baroque romain. Elle appartenait certainement à une série personnifiant les Quatre Saisons.
