A highly important German parcel-gilt writing-casket, Altermann Moritz Kop's mark, Hamburg, circa 1580, with the cypher of Tsar Peter I of Russia
Important coffret-écritoire en argent et vermeil, poinçon de l'Altermann Moritz Kop, Hambourg, 1577-1580, au chiffre du Tsar Pierre I de Russie
rectangular, resting on four top-shaped feet, the three sides and the cover engraved with feathers, flowers and scrolling foliage, one side opening on a drawer with movable ring handle, the cover presenting a sand box with a pierced cover and an inkpot with cover and centered with a second hinged cover decorated with a flower, the side with the drawer engraved with arms, the opposite side engraved with a mirror cipher with a Royal crown for Tsar Peter the Great, gilt mounts and foot, the base engraved with the cipher FWC for Friedrich-Wilhelm I of Brandebourg and Prussia, also PVB (the V removable), the back of the drawer engraved N° 4 3 M 5 E 1 94

AUX CHIFFRES DU TSAR PIERRE I DE RUSSIE ET DU ROI FREDERIC-GUILLAUME I DE PRUSSE
de forme rectangulaire, reposant sur quatre pieds toupies, les trois côtés et le couvercle finement gravés de plumes, fleurs et rinceaux, un côté ouvrant sur un tiroir à anneau mobile, le couvercle présentant une boîte à sable avec couvercle ajouré et un pot à encre avec couvercle amovible et centré d'un second couvercle, à charnière, orné d'une fleur, le côté à tiroir également gravé d'armoiries, le côté opposé gravé d'un chiffre en mavelot timbré d'une couronne royale pour le tsar Pierre le Grand, les montures et les pieds dorés, la base gravée en son centre du chiffre FWC, pour le roi Frédéric-Guillaume Ier de Brandebourg et de Prusse, et sur le côté PVB (V inversé), le fond arrière du tiroir gravé N° 4 3 M 5 E 1 94
