This incredible image shows Voshkod 2 Pilot Alexei Leonov performing humanity's first ever EVA on March 18, 1965. Upon Commander Pavel Belyayev's depressurization of the airlock, Leonov opened the hatch, exited the airlock, and extended away from the spacecraft the full length of his 5.35m/17.6 ft umbilicus.
