SIGNED and INSCRIBED IN BLUE INK "PROJECT MERCURY ASTRONAUTS, THE ORIGINAL 7. GORDON COOPER FAITH 7", and SIGNED AND INSCRIBED IN BLACK INK "WALLY SCHIRRA, Σ7", and "SCOTT CARPENTER, AURORA 7". Taken on 20 January, 1961, this photograph captures the original 7 Mercury astronauts standing in front of a prototype Convair 106-B, the original all-weather interceptor aircraft of the United States Air Force.
