A Fabergé silver cigarette case, workmaster Michael Perchin, St Petersburg, circa 1900


Rectangular, with a hinged vesta compartment enclosing a strike plate and an opening for a tinder cord fitted with a gold chain, the hinged cover applied with a gold thumbpiece and bearing an inscription in Cyrillic 'Nina / 7 June 1901', commemorating the birthday of Princess Nina Georgievna at the New Mikhailovsky Palace, the interior inscribed in French and Cyrillic Borzhom 14 September 1901 / from Tipi 1922 / London, struck twice to interior with maker's initials, Fabergé in Cyrillic, 88 standard
