A Fabergé parcel-gilt silver, enamel and seed pearl charka, Moscow, 1908-1917


Enamelled in matte dark blue and set with pearl 'snowflakes' in imitation of embroidery, raised on four ball feet, the handle set with a silver coin depicting Peter the Great, gilt interior, struck K. Fabergé in Cyrillic under the imperial warrant, 88 standard, scratched inventory number 31049

length over handle 10.1cm, 4in.

Charki of this design appear to have been made in series by Fabergé.  A nearly identical example with scratched inventory number 31046 and the handle set with a 1762 coin of Catherine the Great sold Sotheby's New York, 13 April 2013, lot 85. A further related example with scratched inventory number 33240, also set with a silver coin depicting Peter the Great was sold Sotheby's London, 27 November 2007, lot 565.
