A Fabergé jewelled silver and guilloché enamel presentation cigarette case, workmaster Anders Nevalainen, St Petersburg, 1899-1903


Rectangular with rounded corners enamelled translucent lilac over a sunburst guilloché ground, the cover applied with a diamond-set initial 'W' beneath a crown presumably for Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, with gold-set cabochon sapphire thumbpiece, the interior gilded, contained within a fitted velvet and silk box from Berlin retailer Johann Wagner & Sohn, marked with initials of workmaster and K. Fabergé in Cyrillic with Imperial warrant, 88 standard, scratched inventory number 7394
