A rare and early Fabergé varicoloured gold-mounted, silver-gilt, guilloché enamel and bowenite desk clock, workmaster Michael Perkhin, St Petersburg, circa 1890


the silver-gilt dial set with a frieze of gilt beads and mounted with a ribbon-tied festoon; the opaque white enamel dial with black Arabic chapters and gold openwork hands, bordered by a gilt beaded bezel crested with a tied ribbon, the face of the stand enamelled with pink guilloché over wavy engine-turning, flanked by foliate scrolls and mounted with yellow gold intersecting arrows and a laurel wreath with a rose gold ribbon tie, the silver-gilt terrace bordered by acanthus leaves raised on a polished bowenite plinth on four gadrooned bun feet, in a fitted case, struck with workmaster's initials and Fabergé in Cyrillic, 88 standard
