A Fabergé silver-gilt mounted guilloché enamel thermometer, workmaster Viktor Aarne, St Petersburg, 1899-1904
rectangular, the surface enamelled in translucent pink over banded wavy engine-turning, the left and right sides of the aperture applied with rosettes, palmettes and foliate motifs, the top and bottom applied with a ribbon-tied laurel wreath and an additional bowed ribbon, the bead-framed aperture enclosing a silver-gilt panel graded in Centigrade scale and inscribed 'THERMOMETRE', all within a reeded border, wooden back, silver-gilt scroll strut, struck with workmaster's initials and Fabergé in Cyrillic, 88 standard, scratched inventory number 2397
